พ่อท่านคล้าย
เกิดเมื่อวันอังคารที่ ๒๗ มีนาคม พ.ศ.๒๔๑๙ ณ บ้านโคกกระทือ ตำบลช้างกลางอำเภอฉวาง
บุตรของนายอินทร์และนางเหนี่ยว สีนิล ศึกษาเบื้องต้นโดยบิดาเป็นผู้สอนที่บ้าน
จนชำนาญ ทั้งไทยและบาลี ่านออกเขียนได้เป็นอย่างดี บรรพชาเป็นสามเณรเมื่อ
พ.ศ.๒๔๓๘ ขณะอายุได้ ๑๙ ปี ที่วัดจันดี (เดิมชื่อ วัดทุ่งปอน)
ในอำเภอฉวาง ต่อมาได้อุปสมบท ณ วัดวังม่วง เมื่อ พ.ศ.๒๔๓๘ แล้ว
ไปจำพรรษาที่วัดจันดี ศึกษาพระธรรมวินัยและฝึกซ้อมปาฎิโมกข์จนชำนาญ
พ.ศ.๒๔๔๘ ได้รับแต่งตั้งเป็นเจ้าอาวาสวัดสวนขัน อำเภอฉวาง ซึ่งท่านได้บำเพ็ญประโยชน์แก่
ชุมชนเป็นอันมาก โดยพัฒนาวัดให้เจริญรุ่งเรืองและยังได้ก่อสร้างวัดวาอาราม
พระเจดีย์ และสาธารณูป โภคต่างๆ ทั้งในนครศรีธรรมราชและจังหวัดใกล้เคียง
อาทิ ถนน สะพาน โบสถ์ เจดีย์ กำแพงวัด บ่อน้ำ มาโดยตลอด ด้วยเหตุนี้จึงได้รับพระมหากรุณาธิคุณพระราชทานสัญญาบัตรเป็นพระครูชั้นตรี

ครูพิศิษฐ์อรรถการ เมื่อ พ.ศ.๒๔๙๒ และได้เลื่อนเป็นพระครูชั้นพิเศษในราชทินนามเดิม
เมื่อ พ.ศ.๒๕๐๐
โดยเหตุที่ได้ศึกษาพระธรรมวินัยและถือปฏิบัติอย่างเคร่งครัดตลอดมา
พุทธศาสนิกชนทั้งใน
เมืองนครศรีธรรมราชและใกล้เคียงจึงเลื่อมใสศรัทธา โดยเฉพาะวัตรปฏิบัติที่พูดน้อยแต่มีสาระที่เป็น
จริงเสมอ เป็นที่เลื่องลือทั่วกันว่าเป็นผู้มีวาจาสิทธิ์ หรือวาจาศักดิ์สิทธิ์
มรณภาพเมื่อวันที่ ๕ ธันวาคม พ.ศ.๒๕๑๓ อายุได้ ๙๕ ปี เป็นเจ้าอาวาสวัดสวนขันนาน

Pho Than Khlai was born to Mr. In and Mrs.
Niao Sinin on Tuesday March 27, 1876 in Khok Kratue Village,
Chang Klang Sub-District, Chawang District. When he was young
his father taught him Thai and Pali. He was ordained as a novice
monk in 1895 at the age of 19 at Wat Chandi (then known as Wat
Thung Pon) in Chawang District, and became a monk at Wat Wangmuang
in that year. He spent the Buddhist lent at Wat Chandi studying
Dhamma and practicing Patimokkha (the 222 disciplinary rules
binding Buddhist monks).
In
1905, he became the abbot of Wat Suan Khan in Chawang District.
During this time, he made great contributions to the community
by making improvements in the temple grounds. He organized
the construction of other religious and public works such
as roadways, bridges, pagodas, ordination halls, temple walls
and wells. As a result the King granted him a royal certificate
of appointment, making him a Phra Khru (Venerable Teacher)
of the third class, with the title of Phra Khru Phisit Atthakarn
in 1949. He was later promoted to a higher level in the Buddhist
hierarchy in 1957.
Because
he studied and conscientiously practised Buddhism, he was
highly revered in Nakhon Si Thammarat and elsewhere. He rarely
spoke, but when he did he spoke only the truth. He therefore
became known as a person whose words had the power to effect
the future. He died on December 5, 1970 at the age of 95 having
been the abbot of Wat Suan Khan for 65 years.
