Because of his interest in and his support for education of young children, he was appointed by the royal command to be the Ecclesiastical Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat and the Director of Education of Nakhon Si Thammarat and Pattani Provinces.

Outstanding Achievements

1. Administration of the clergy: Improvements were made in the system of administration of monks and novices in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phattalung and Songkhla Provinces. The positions of chief monks at the town, district and village levels were established for the administration of the clergy.

2. Education: Twenty-one elementary schools were established in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Pattani Provinces. The first one in Nakhon Si Thammarat was Sukhumaphiban Withaya School (now known as Benchama Rachuthit School). Another school was established to teach the craft of nielloware (a kind of black lacquer with gold leaf decoration). This school later became the Nakhon Si Thammarat College of Arts and Crafts. Phra Rattanathatchamuni also played a key role in the establishment of Nakhon Si Thammarat Teachers College.

3. Support for Local Poets. The monks supported and promoted local literary works such as phlengbok (narrative songs) and other forms of poetry. He himself wrote several important pieces including a phlengbok entitled Sala Do Hok and a khloang (a form of Thai poetry) in honor of King Chulalongkorn.
He lived a long and fruitful life and died on September 21, 1934 at the age of 82.
